Overview

Wrexham University is seeking experienced academics and creative industry professionals to join our Art and Design Sessional Lecturer Pool, with an initial focus on supporting the delivery of our growing Transnational Education (TNE) provision.
Competitive hourly teaching rate. Where international teaching is required, flights, accommodation, subsistence and appropriate local support will be provided in accordance with University arrangements.

Key information

Alongside our TNE provision, sessional lecturers will become part of the wider Art & Design academic community at Wrexham University, working collaboratively with our existing academic teams and contributing specialist knowledge, professional practice and teaching expertise across our Art and Design portfolio where opportunities and programme requirements arise.

About the role

Successful applicants will support our established partnerships in Chongqing and Tonghua, China, contributing to the delivery of Wrexham University Art and Design programmes. This will include periods of teaching at our partner institutions in China, with assignments planned according to programme requirements and individual areas of academic, creative and professional expertise.

These roles provide an opportunity to contribute to Wrexham University’s international ambitions while maintaining a strong connection with teaching and academic activity at Wrexham. Sessional lecturers will work with colleagues across both Wrexham University and our international partners, supporting a consistent, high-quality student experience across our home and TNE provision.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A postgraduate qualification in Art, Design or a closely related discipline.
  • Higher education teaching experience or significant relevant creative industry experience.
  • The ability to deliver engaging, inclusive and practice-based teaching.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively alongside established academic teams.
  • A flexible approach to teaching across different academic and cultural environments.
  • The flexibility to contribute to teaching at Wrexham University and undertake international teaching assignments where required.

Experience of Transnational Education or international teaching and Fellowship of Advance HE or an equivalent teaching qualification would be advantageous.
