We are recruiting an experienced Sous Chef at Bryngarw House. You will play an integral role at our signature wedding venue, working with the Head Chef to manage the kitchen team and ensuring a successful dining experience for all guests.

Key information

As an experienced Sous Chef, you will play an integral role at our signature wedding venue, Bryngarw House. Working with the Head Chef, you will manage the kitchen team and ensure a successful dining experience for all guests. Your passion for culinary excellence and a desire to learn and develop your skills will help to ensure that Bryngarw House maintains its reputation as a leading wedding venue in South Wales and beyond.

About the role

  • Work closely with the Head Chef to prepare and deliver set wedding and functions menus for approximately hundred and twenty guests.
  • Produce high quality dishes that follow the agreed menu at required standards, as well as to clients’ meeting client expectations.
  • Maintain order and discipline in the kitchen at all times.
  • Provide advice and guidance to other staff as and when required to ensure functions are run to set times.
  • Maintain professional equipment so that it remains in good condition and signal any malfunction before it affects the staff or services provided.
  • Lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food and personal hygiene at all times.

Requirements

  • Have Level Two Diploma in Advanced Professional Cookery or similar and be able to demonstrate competence through experience.
  • Have Level Two Food Hygiene Qualification.
  • Knowledge of ingredients and how to serve them. Experience of working alone and as a team to achieve high standards of service and set standards.
  • Forward thinking with a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness, flexibility and a self motivating approach.
  • Guest and service orientated approach.
  • Works well in a fast paced environment and able to effectively manage multiple priorities, problem solve and work to strict deadlines.
