About the role

As a Support Worker (Day Opportunities), you will provide personalised support to adults with profound learning disabilities, helping them to engage in community and centre-based activities, while assisting with personal care, moving and handling, and communication needs. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure safe, high-quality, person-centred care, supporting customers’ independence, participation and wellbeing. This role involves using a range of communication methods, including Makaton and visual aids, while adhering to individual care and support plans. 

Working hours for this role are 13 hours per week, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support customers to participate in recreational, learning, and work-related activities, either in small groups or on a 1:1 basis.
  • Assist with personal care, medication, meals, mobility, and moving & handling, in line with individual care plans.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual needs, promoting inclusion, engagement, and independence.
  • Monitor and report on customers’ welfare, progress, incidents, and any concerns to management.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and Trust policies.
  • Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and service delivery to maintain high-quality standards.

About you:

As a Support Worker(Day Opportunities), you will share Papworth Trust’s values and be committed to equality, inclusion, and social change, with a strong understanding of the social model of disability. 

You will be empathetic, flexible, and experienced in supporting adults with profound learning disabilities, including those with complex health and sensory needs. 

You will be skilled in a variety of communication methods, able to support personal care and adapt activities to meet individual needs, and confident working as part of a team. IT literacy and the ability to travel to meetings, training, and other locations as required is essential.
