Key information

Creative Support is seeking warm, reliable, and proactive Support Workers to join our friendly team in Manchester. We provide quality care and support for individuals with learning disabilities in a vibrant service where no two days are the same.

You will provide 1:1 support for an individual with autism and a learning disability in various activities, including employment, volunteering, community engagement, and daily living tasks at home. We are looking for someone with a great sense of humour who enjoys being part of an energetic team.

Your role will include encouraging engagement in exciting social activities both within and outside the home, and developing warm, trusting relationships with service users and their families, ensuring they enjoy their time to the fullest.

A clean and valid driving license is essential for this role.

  • To develop and sustain warm and trusting relationships with service users. 
  • To promote the self-esteem, happiness and emotional health of service users. 
  • To respect the person’s right to privacy and to ensure that their dignity is maintained at all times. 
  • To encourage and support service users in expressing their needs, views and concerns. 
  • To enable service users to make choices and decisions and to participate as fully as possible in planning and decision-making processes. 
  • To respect and promote the rights and entitlements of people with learning disabilities, and to enable them to participate as fully as possible in their communities. 
  • To be responsive to the individual needs of service users within the framework of their Person Centred Plans and to respond flexibly to changing needs.

Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate a warm, person centred and affirmative approach to people with learning disabilities.
  • Good verbal communication skills and ability to listen sensitively to others
  • Ability to engage with service users to develop and sustain warm and trusting relationships
  • Ability to demonstrate significant understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities
  • Good written communication skills
  • A clean valid driving licence
