Key information

Working at the heart of Tate’s cross-disciplinary Digital department, you will collaborate with colleagues across Marketing, Membership, Tate Enterprises, Audience Insights, and our Design Studio to design inclusive, intuitive and evidence-led user experiences.

About the role

  • Lead UX design activities on defined projects, from early discovery through to production-ready designs.
  • Shape user journeys, interaction patterns and content-aware experiences that improve accessibility, clarity and engagement across Tate’s digital products.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and UI layouts using Tate’s design system, ensuring consistency and usability across touchpoints.
  • Apply and support the use of Tate’s design system, contributing ideas to improve patterns and components where needed.
  • Manage user research activities, including usability testing, workshops and synthesising insights to inform design decisions.
  • Use analytics, behavioural evidence and accessibility standards to iterate on user journeys and interaction designs.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, content designers, developers and analysts to ensure high-quality, user-centred delivery.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience as a UX designer, with a portfolio showing user flows, journey maps, prototypes and interface designs created using a design system.
  • Strong understanding of user experience methodologies, including user research, prototyping, wireframing and usability testing.
  • Experience applying visual/UI design principles within an established design system.
  • Ability to use qualitative and quantitative evidence to guide design decisions.
  • Commitment to accessibility (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and inclusive design principles.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non - technical teams.
  • Confidence engaging with managers and senior stakeholders, providing clear UX guidance and influencing design decisions
