Job description

Children and family services are responsible for the provision of support and guidance to disabled people, families and members of the wider community including professionals. The post holder will manage a case load as defined within agreed service models and or delivery plans. They will motivate colleagues and customers to achieve their potential and report on service outcomes and impact. They will be an active participant within their team, the wider organisation and as appropriate with external organisations.

They will operate as a competent professional needing a minimum supervision beyond the probationary period, be proficient in the role and possess the required professional knowledge and expertise to perform the role effectively. They will solve routine problems and those within the context of the service and role. They will carry out the required tasks with a limited degree of supervision and prompting. This role requires individuals to either possess (or undertake) and maintain relevant technical training and accreditation (as determined by Scope) which may include recognition by a professional body.

Scope services are provided in the pursuit of social change, to quality of life, and to the development of the full potential of an individual, group or community (including supporting professionals).

By providing practical support to individuals, their families and professionals, to help with daily living and activities/programmes/action plans, there will be a focus on support, inclusion, and reduction of isolation. The post holder is not intended to manage crisis intervention but is required to facilitate onward signposting of individuals to appropriate services and support including to safeguarding professionals.

The post holder is required to work remotely and or face to face with customers in our offices, the wider community and social settings. Scope actively supports flexible working arrangements for its colleagues therefore a mixture of home working and non-homeworking will be accommodated within the context of the role and in line with our flexible working policy considering customer and business needs.

This is a Scope career level two role so coproduction and collaboration with disabled people, families, supporters and internal and external professionals is required to achieve agreed plans, actions and outcomes. The ability to be inclusive, creative, organised and adaptable is required to maintain and develop service provision, individual wellbeing, team cohesion, performance and impact.

Person Specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • An understanding of the support needs of parents of disabled children and young people in (including but not limited to) relation to Sleep, Parents Connect, Navigate and Activities for All.
  • A proven track record of responding to the support needs of parents of disabled children and young people.
  • Experience of case work.
  • A relevant qualification in the field of health and social care or lived experience of disability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective IT Skills including use of all Microsoft Office products.
  • Good time management skills, administrative skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check prior to starting the role.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the social model of disability.
  • Experience of delivering group work.
  • Familiar with Customer relationship manager (CRM) systems.
