Job description

To support the delivery of the Activities for All service in Leeds which provides support and challenge to activity providers and settings; helping them to be more inclusive with their service delivery and supporting them to work towards Scope's Inclusive Activity Award. The service also provides advice and guidance to other professionals and families of disabled children ensuring they have the information needed to make an informed choice with regards to short break services they wish to access.

Main responsibilities

  • Promote the ethos of inclusion and to support activity providers and settings to become inclusive.
  • Promote Scope’s Inclusive Activity Award to universal settings and activities and to support them to achieve the agreed standard
  • Carry a caseload of activity providers offering ongoing support and guidance throughout the process
  • Carry out regular reviews with activity providers who have acheived the award
  • Provide advice on accessible childcare, sport, play and leisure activities available across Leeds to parents with a disabled child
  • Act as a professional resource providing support and challenge to professionals from Health, Education, Social Care, Voluntary and Private Sector.
  • Empower children/young people to understand their opportunities, indicate personal preferences and to facilitate inclusion into childcare, sport, play and leisure activities.
  • Keep appropriate and accurate case records
  • Keep statistical information for review, evaluation and planning purposes
  • Occasionally work evenings and weekends when facilitating workshops or networking events

This is not an exhaustive list of duties and the post holder will be required to undertake any other duties and discussed and directed by the line manager

Person specification

Qualifications

Professional Qualification or degree or proven experience in the relevant field

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Good demonstrable knowledge of what constitutes inclusive practice when delivering activities for children and young people
  • Proven track record in working with and supporting families of disabled children
  • Experience of liaising with a variety of agencies
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Desirable

  • Proven experience of working for or supporting inclusive play and leisure activities
  • Good Working knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Teams and/or other virtual platforms to run meetings, training sessions and workshops
  • Good Working knowledge of Early Help (Common Assessment Framework)
  • Knowledge of local statutory and voluntary agencies and demonstrable experience of multi-agency working
