Job description

Role purpose: 

Finance analyst working with a small team of finance business partners and other analysts to produce financial information across all areas of the organisation including retail, fundraising, services and corporate.  Assist in providing accurate and timely financial information, analysis and advice to departments to enable them to effectively manage their finances.  Provide insight on the results to the organisation to enable informed decisions to be made.

Main responsibilities and accountabilities: 

  • Prepare regular daily, weekly and monthly management information reports 
  • Assist with the production of budgets, forecasts and actual results
  • Respond to questions from budget holders, supporting teams as required in regular and one-off detailed analysis and reconciliations and developing a knowledge of the business, cost structures and income streams 
  • Investigate issues raised by budget holders and liaise with appropriate teams and operational staff to resolve and correct as appropriate
  • Update and maintain the reporting structure for the whole organisation when changes occur throughout the year
  • Assist with month end finance processes and journal preparation needed to produce accurate accounts for review within the timetable
  • Support the commercial finance managers and other finance analysts in delivering a variety of finance business partnering services which may include rolling forecasts, investment appraisal, ROI performance and financial modelling.
  • Collaborate with others to identify areas for process improvement & efficiencies and help to implement improvements in systems and reporting content
  • Provide training, support and advice on a range of financial systems and issues to budget holders and other colleagues

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Finance/business/accountancy educational background demonstrating high numeracy skills
  • Effective IT skills including good ability to use Excel, word and powerpoint for analysis and presentations
  • Ability to pick up new systems quickly 
  • A close attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work well to deadlines
  • Flexible and responds positively to change
  • Enthusiasm to work with the team to provide excellent service to internal customers
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders and colleagues and provide practical support as part of the finance team
  • Good collaboration and communication skills including with non-finance teams

Desirable

  • Accounting/analysis experience
