Job description

This is an important role in Scope’s Brand and Marketing team and one which requires significant practical experience in a charity, blue chip or challenger brand.

The post-holder will already be working at this level and have solid experience of working across a range of brands in complex environments. This role will have immediate responsibility for some of our most high profile and strategic accounts.

The post-holder must show strong initiative and be able to work collaboratively, recognising when and where to involve others in decision-making.

They will need to be confident in building positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels and able to encourage and manage constructive challenge in a professional and trusted environment.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver multichannel marketing strategies that will help our brand and marketing activity to become sector-leading
  • Implement high profile campaigns, ensuring they are delivered on time, to budget and achieve their KPIs
  • Champion the use of brand knowledge and audience-focused marketing across the charity supporting colleagues to deliver work that works.
  • Lead marketing communications project groups, inspiring creativity and shared expertise to deliver robust and effective marketing activity
  • Encourage sharing of expertise and upskilling across teams, working with key internal teams to demonstrate the value that the Brand and Marketing team add
  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive briefing process, training and inspiring the organisation with new ways of working
  • Collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels, managing competing priorities and able to resolve challenging situations
  • Brief our in-house creative team, external agencies and freelance designers, copywriters and photographers
  • Review and feedback on creative work, championing co-production and audience-driven work
  • Support other teams in recognising excellent creative work that delivers against the brief
  • Comply with all Scope policy and procedure and external compliance such as GDPR, complaints and best marketing practice
  • Comply with HR, Scope systems and processes, and performance.
  • Ensuring effective use of the budget and excellent value for money

Person Specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Providing excellent service to internal customers
  • Writing and implementing multichannel marketing strategies across both online and offline channels to achieve agreed ROI
  • Extensive project management experience in a complex environment
  • Leading on briefing external creative, media planning and media buying agencies and freelancers and supporting internal teams to write compelling project briefs, as well as working with and alongside the agencies/freelancers to deliver
  • Identifying and implementing new ways of working to drive efficiency and effectiveness, particularly within a creative environment
  • Leading and supporting with the delivery of training to upskill colleagues
  • Solid success in building positive working relationships internally at all levels
  • Solid experience of managing challenging situations and influencing upwards
  • Building excellent relationships with external suppliers
  • Able to demonstrate marketing best practice and strategic excellence
  • Copywriting and editing for a range of audiences and purposes
  • Solid understanding of digital marketing practices and interpreting results
  • Working in the charity sector and delivering insights-led campaigns for Fundraising, Services and Campaigning teams.
  • Using market research and audience insight to inform and evaluate marketing activity

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate creativity and innovation to lead the delivery of end-to-end marketing campaigns complete with robust and cost-effective marketing strategies across online and offline channels
  • Solid experience of co-production and working with people with lived experience to develop audience-led activity
  • Not afraid of trying new ways of working and providing constructive challenge
  • Confident communications, interpersonal and consultative skills.
  • Adept at building new relationships and nurturing existing relationships with colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to prioritise and deliver high quality work, to be able to multi-task under pressure and bring people along on key decisions.
  • Financially astute, numerate and analytical
