Fundraising ideas

Whether you are a first-time fundraiser joining the party or a regular fundraiser aiming to smash your previous target. Our dedicated Fundraising team have put together lots of great fundraising ideas, so you can hit the ground running!

Ideas for everyone

  • Challenge yourself

Getting moving can improve your physical and mental wellbeing so why no set yourself an active challenge? It could be anything from:

    • walking
    • wheeling or running
    • yoga
    • dancing
    • juggling, and
    • keepy-uppies

Set yourself a challenge that suits you and have friends sponsor your efforts.

  • Local and bucket collections

    Local collections

Ask your local cafes, businesses and workplaces if you can place a Scope donation tin on their counter. On average these raise £300 a year but you will need to collect and pay them in monthly once they are full.

    Bucket collections

We can also help you to secure permits for bucket collections. Allowing you to collect on the street and in local venues like train stations or theatres. You can return these online or to your local Scope shop.

Contact us at fundraise@scope.org.uk to find out what we can offer in your area.

  • Get creative

Turn your artistic talents into a fundraiser. Hold a virtual workshop for friends and family or make bespoke items in return for donations.

It’s time to show off your nifty knitting skills, wonderful watercolours and divine drawings!

  • Themed fundraisers

Celebrate special days in style by hosting a themed fundraiser. There are lots of celebrations throughout the year to choose from, such as:

    • Valentine's Day
    • World Baking Day

And specific days dedicated to celebrating diversity, like:

    • International Day of People with Disabilities
    • Global Accessibility Day
  • Hair and share

Do something wacky with your hair like growing a beard for two months, getting rid of it completely by braving the shave or waxing your legs. It’s completely up to you!

Be sure to share photos or a video online and encourage your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you. Don’t forget to tag Scope.

  • Wedding favours

Donate your wedding favours on behalf of your guests to Scope and share the cause you care about with your nearest and dearest. You can use these wedding favours which we advise printing on card.

Virtual fundraising ideas

  • Host a virtual quiz

Gather friends and family over Zoom and host a virtual quiz. Get people to donate an entry fee.

You could stick to general knowledge or create a themed evening. Ask a local business to donate a prize for the winning team or get the winners to host the next quiz in a theme of their choice.

  • Online giving

You may wish to set up an online fundraising page to share. For example, Just Giving. Fundraising online alongside your other activities can boost the amount of money you raise.

  • Share a skill

Host a virtual workshop to teach others a skill you have. For example, an origami making session or how to cook your signature dish.

You could take it in turns as a group and learn a new skill each month, asking others to donate to join your class.

  • Amazon smile

Host a virtual workshop to teach others a skill you have. For example, an origami making session or how to cook your signature dish.

You could take it in turns as a group and learn a new skill each month, asking others to donate to join your class.

  • Donate in celebrate

Celebrate your birthday or a special day like an anniversary by donating to a cause you care about. You can easily organise these through setting up a general fundraiser or birthday fundraiser through our Facebook page, or by setting up a JustGiving page for us.

  • Online music gig

Swap the local pub for your living room and gather your musically talented friends to host an online music gig. Ask for a small entry fee or guests could donate to request specific songs to be played.

  • eBay it

Clear out your cupboards and sell your items on eBay. Donate a percentage to Scope through eBay’s charity function.

Simply search for Scope in the charity option. Or if you’re looking to spruce up your wardrobe buy directly from Scope’s eBay online shop.

Ideas for schools

  • Art competition

Focus on creativity, run an art competition asking students to create their favourite monster at home with a £1 donation for each entry.

  • Purple dress down day

Organise a dress down day. Ask all students to wear purple and donate £1. Why purple? Purple is a widely recognised colour for disability equality!

Ideas for sports clubs

  • Organise a tournament

Get everyone at the club and all your supports involved in a one-day tournament. This could include children, parents, spectators and sponsors. Everyone gets a chance to play! Charge an entry fee for each team. And maybe hold a BBQ to raise some extra cash.

Don’t forget you can request fundraising buckets by emailing fundraise@scope.org.uk.

  • Take on your rival

Play a charity exhibition match to get together with your rivals and wow the crowds with your skills. Everyone has that one big rival club they just can’t wait to beat!

  • Brave the cold

Mark the end of the season with a chilly dip at your local wild swimming lake, outdoor pool or pop to the beach. Donate the money you would have spent at the pub, have friends and family sponsor you or ask for a donation for entry from your teammates.

  • Match day raffle

Host a raffle at your next match day and encourage everyone to purchase tickets as they watch the game. Ask your sponsors or local businesses to donate prizes. You could even raffle off free tickets to the next match or a table at your teams end of season dinner.
