Job description

Role purpose

As New Business Lead you will be responsible for developing and leading your team in the delivery of the new business stream of Scope’s Corporate Partnerships strategy.  As the senior subject matter expert at Scope, you will lead your team to identify and secure new corporate partnerships through the developing of impactful relationships. You will ensure that all new partnerships opportunities align with Scope’s mission and values. You will work closely with the Corporate Key account management Lead to ensure that the handover from new business to established partnership is smooth and provides a seamless experience for new corporate partners. You will be responsible for setting and reporting on clear objective and key performance indicators (KPI) and milestones to deliver the corporate new business strategy. This role is essential in growing Scope’s reach, increasing funding, and enhancing our impact through collaboration with partners. The role will manage, motivate, and lead a team to support corporate partnerships, with a strong emphasis on developing relationships.

Main responsibilities and accountabilities

Strategy

  • Develop and lead the execution of the Corporate Partnerships New Partnerships strategy. Working closely with the Head of High Value Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships Lead.
  • Develop, and lead your team in delivering the new business strategy that supports the broader Corporate Partnerships strategy.
  • Identify and inspire new strategic partners that align with the charity’s strategy and goals.
  • Lead strategic and transformational new business development in collaboration with the Head of High Value Fundraising to increase the sustainability, value, and breadth of Scope’s partnerships.
  • Set and monitor annual partnership targets, ensuring alignment with Scope’s goals.
  • Analyse trends and opportunities in corporate fundraising to inform strategy.

Budget and risk

  • You will be responsible for setting and managing the New Partnerships team income and expenditure budgets.
  • Develop tailored proposals and pitches to potential partners, highlighting opportunities for mutual benefit.
  • Project manage high-level proposals, liaising with multiple internal teams, creating clear project plans including roles and responsibilities, senior stakeholder briefing, and internal feedback.
  • Work with colleagues across Scope to identify the potential and manage the risk in new partnerships, ensuring they follow Scope’s values and charity legislation.
  • Establish key metrics and milestones against corporate new business, use these and organisation wide key performance indicators (KPIs) to prepare regular reports on pipeline and partnership performance, including financial contributions and impact metrics.

Team leadership and management

  • Support a high-performing team to deliver against objectives.
  • Inspire and motivate line reports to grow and develop in their roles. Seek opportunities for learning and development and encourage a culture of continual improvement.
  • Ensure processes and ways of working are established to support your team in achieving its goals and ambitions. 
  • Play an active role in the High Value Fundraising leadership team and lead by example in working collaboratively across the organisation.

Compliance

  • Lead on all contracts and cross-organisational processes and legal requirements.
  • Use the CRM database to enter, update, and extract accurate information.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that partnership activities are integrated into wider fundraising and marketing campaigns.
  • Represent the Corporate Partnerships team in appropriate working groups, workshops, meetings, and other events as required.
  • Represent Scope at external events, conferences, and networking opportunities, building relationships with key stakeholders and raising awareness of Scope’s work.
  • Act as an ambassador for Scope, effectively communicating the charity’s strategy, values, and impact to potential partners.

Person specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Proven track record in fundraising, with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. 
  • In-depth understanding of fundraising strategies, techniques, and best practices. 
  • Experience in developing and managing complex budgets including financial modelling and reforecasts. 
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including experience in managing and motivating a team. 
  • Ability to analyse data and trends to inform fundraising strategies and decisions. 
  • Experience in building relationships with and managing multiple stakeholders. 
  • Knowledge of fundraising and marketing compliance and regulations within the UK. 
  • Experience in managing external agencies and working with internal creative teams. 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the barriers facing disabled people in the UK, and an understanding of the Social Model of Disability. 
  • Established network of contacts within the fundraising community. 
  • Professional fundraising or marketing qualifications. 
  • Experience in contract management and negotiations.
