Take part in Scope for Change

Do you have a local problem that you’re not sure how to solve? Or a structural issue in society that you’re desperate to talk about?

Scope for Change is a 6 month campaign training programme for the next generation of disability activists. We’ll support 15 young campaigners with the tools and support they need to run campaigns on issues that matter to them.

Make a difference

Last year, Scope for Change campaigners tackled a huge range of issues – from improving accessibility in hospitals and schools, to increasing legal protections for disabled volunteers, through to challenging the language used about disability.

They met with MPs, Government Ministers, local authority and NHS officials to achieve the change they wanted to see. They were interviewed on the radio, wrote to local newspapers and spoke in lecture theatres about their experiences. They hosted events, made zines, produced videos and launched petitions. All of these actions help bring us all to a world where disabled people have everyday equality.

They created change for disabled people up and down the country. And we’re looking for the next group of young people to take part.

Tasha is pictured next to her quote. "I could give you a thousand reasons to join Scope for Change, but not a single reason why not to. So go for it! - Tasha, Scope For Change 2018.

The Programme

The Scope for Change programme is fully accessible. We aim to include everyone who makes it onto the programme, and we work with you to make sure you get the most out of your experience.

During a 3-day training event in an accessible venue in Loughborough, we cover topics like campaigning strategy, social media, digital campaigning and more. You’ll have the opportunity to get to know other young disabled people and work together to create campaign plans. We then provide ongoing support and extra training from August to February to help you get your campaigns off the ground.

Last year’s campaigners described the programme as “life changing” and told us that it helped them to feel confident in themselves and in sharing their voice. We can’t necessarily promise to change your life, but we can promise an inclusive programme with expert facilitators and 1-1 support to support you to make a difference on the issues that matter to you.
