    The Big Golf Challenge (the event) 

    The fundraising challenge organised by Scope where you (and, if applicable, your team) take on a golf-based challenge described on the Scope event webpage (for example, playing a set number of holes in a day).

    Participation is voluntary and intended to raise funds to support disabled people, by encouraging you to seek donations from your personal and professional networks. 

    Registration form 

    The online form provided by Scope that you must complete to join the event and receive any event information and fundraising materials (such as a digital guide, templates or a fundraising pack, where offered). The registration form collects information such as your name, contact details, event date, marketing preferences, and agreement to these terms and conditions. 

    Scope 

    Scope is a disability equality charity in England and Wales. In these terms and conditions, “Scope”, “we”, “our” or “us” means Scope, and “you” means the person registering for and/or taking part in the event (including a parent/guardian registering on behalf of a minor, where permitted). 

    Registration and eligibility 

    You must register with Scope to take part in the event (whether on your own behalf or, where permitted, on behalf of a minor) by completing the registration form. By completing and submitting the registration form, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. 

    You must be aged 18 or over to register for the event unless you have consent from your parent/guardian to take part.  

    Your parent/guardian may need to contact the email address provided on the event webpage and/or in your registration confirmation, confirming  

    (a) their consent to your participation;  

    (b) that they will supervise your participation; and  

    (c) that they accept responsibility for complying with these terms and conditions. 

    Participation 

    Scope reserves the right to prevent you (and/or any member of your team) from participating in and/or completing the event for the benefit of Scope if: 

    • we determine that you do not meet the event’s registration requirements and/or health and safety requirements; and/or 
    • allowing you to participate is likely to harm Scope’s reputation; and/or 
    • your participation means that Scope is not operating in accordance with its policies (including, where relevant, safeguarding or vulnerable donor considerations). 

    The event is designed so that you can complete your golf challenge in your own time and in your own way, provided you follow any rules of the golf course/venue and comply with these terms and conditions. 

    Materials and copyright 

    We provide information about the event on our website and may provide fundraising materials for you to download (and, where offered, a fundraising pack). All copyright and other intellectual property rights in these materials are owned by (or licensed to) Scope. You may use the materials only for the purpose of taking part in and promoting your fundraising for the event. 

    Liability 

    By submitting a registration form (whether for yourself, on behalf of a minor or on behalf of a team), you confirm that you understand the nature and scope of the event, including any possible risks, and that you are participating voluntarily and at your own risk. 

    You are responsible for ensuring the environment in which you take part is safe and suitable, and for following all rules, safety instructions and policies of the golf course/venue (including any dress code, course etiquette and local safety requirements). If you have any health conditions that may be affected by participation, you should seek appropriate advice from a medical professional before taking part. 

    Golf and related physical activity (including walking long distances, carrying clubs, and playing multiple rounds) involves inherent risks, including accidents, personal injury (including serious injury or death) and property loss or damage. By participating, you confirm, to the best of your knowledge and belief, that you are healthy and fit to take part. 

    To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scope (and its employees, volunteers, agents and representatives) will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your participation in the event, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law (including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence). 

    Scope does not provide insurance (including medical, personal accident, public liability or equipment cover) for participants. You are responsible for arranging any insurance you consider necessary, and you should check what insurance (if any) is provided by the golf course/venue and/or by any third-party fundraising or activity-tracking platforms you use. 

    Fundraising 

    You agree to raise funds for Scope and to ensure this money is paid to Scope as soon as possible and no later than three months after your event end date (or such other timeframe stated on the event webpage). Any money raised is held on trust for Scope. 

    You agree that, when fundraising for Scope in connection with the event, you will: 

    • use only lawful means to fundraise and do nothing which harms or is likely to harm Scope’s reputation; 
    • make it clear to donors that their donation is to Scope in support of your participation in the event; 
    • only use Scope’s name and any Scope-provided materials (including logos) in line with any guidance we provide; 
    • obtain any permissions you need for your fundraising activities (for example, from a golf course/venue or landowner) and comply with any conditions they impose. 

    Fundraising packs, incentives, competitions and prizes 

    Scope may provide fundraising materials and/or a fundraising pack to support your participation. Any items are subject to availability, may vary, and are not guaranteed. Scope may withdraw or substitute any item at its discretion. 

    Where fundraising incentives are offered (for example, receiving an item after raising a specified amount), these will be fulfilled only once the relevant fundraising threshold has been met and verified by Scope (including receipt of funds in cleared form, where applicable). 

    The event (or your golf day) may include optional competitions, challenges or prize draws (for example, on-course games such as nearest-the-pin or longest drive, raffles, auctions or giveaways). Where applicable, separate terms and conditions will apply to those promotions, including eligibility criteria, entry requirements, closing dates and how winners are selected. 

    Your data 

    Scope will use the personal information you provide when registering to: 

    • communicate with you about the event via email, text and post; 
    • send your fundraising pack and/or other relevant materials (where requested and where offered); 
    • administer your participation (including, where relevant, team set-up and supporter care); 
    • understand why people take part in our fundraising events and how we can improve them. 
       

    Scope will process your personal information in accordance with its privacy notice, which explains how your data is collected, used and protected. You can update your communication preferences at any time by contacting the Scope Supporter Care Team using the contact details provided on the event webpage or in your registration confirmation.
