6.30pm: Welcome from Giovanni Gaetani, Scope’s Membership Programme Lead

6.35pm: James Taylor introduces the theme of the event and the speakers

6.45pm to 7.30pm: Speakers panel with Ayaz Bhuta, Sonny Fletcher and Damian Joseph Bridgeman

7.30pm to 7.55pm: Roundtable discussion with members

8pm: Event ends

James Taylor

James Taylor Executive Director of Strategy, Impact and Social Change

James joined Scope in 2016 as Head of Policy and has been in his current role since July 2020. He is responsible for Scope’s policy work, campaigning, research and insight as well as external communications.

Ayaz Bhuta MBE

Ayaz Bhuta

Ayaz Bhuta MBE is a British Paralympic wheelchair rugby player and a Paralympic gold medallist from the Tokyo 2020 games who currently. He has represented Great Britain at the Paralympics in 2016 and 2020 and is also a double European champion.

In 2023, he started working for Scope as Youth Community Engagement Facilitator in Manchester.

Sonny Fletcher

Sonny Fletcher

Sonny Fletcher is a newly elected representative of Scope’s Young Members Assembly. They are a queer disabled children's illustrator with a keen interest in increasing diversity in children's media. They know the positive impact proper representation can have on disabled and non-disabled children.

They are keen to create change and create a better society for disabled people to thrive in, rather than just survive.

Damian Joseph Bridgeman

Damian Joseph Bridgeman

Damian is a newly elected representative of Scope’s Assembly. He is a social architect with experience in many fields like business, government, and health. 

He has degrees in Health and Social Care and Child Health. He also has certificates in teaching and coaching. Damian loves psychology and has helped make big changes in Social Care laws.

In July 2023, he was appointed as Board Member of the National Centre for Accessible Transport.

He has been a part of Academi Wales Summer School in different roles. Damian enjoys helping leaders grow through coaching. His coaching is based on the latest research and is custom-made for each client. He helps people think positively and be better leaders. Damian has also worked with top medical groups to improve health career paths. He is seen as a leader in Health and Social Care.
