Introducing Shani Dhanda, our new ambassador

To mark International Women’s Day, we're thrilled to announce that Shani Dhanda, a global champion for disability equality, has joined us as a Scope ambassador!

As a multi-award-winning disability specialist, campaigner and social business person, Shani will help us fight injustice and create an inclusive world for disabled people.

Shani is a champion of disability inclusion, especially in the workplace. She is also one of the most high-profile disabled women of colour in the UK. She appears regularly on our screens, for example, in LinkedIn’s first ever TV campaign, and as a panellist on ITV’s Loose Women.
 
As an influential woman in leadership, Shani has taken change into her own hands and founded organisations to improve representation and challenge social inequality globally. These include Diversability, a discount platform for disabled shoppers, the Asian Woman Festival and the Asian Disability Network.

A fearless campaigner 

Mark Hodgkinson, our Chief Executive, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Shani has agreed to be a Scope ambassador. I have always really welcomed and enjoyed our engagement with Shani, so it is great to formalise that now. Her energy is phenomenal, as are her problem-solving skills, and she is a fearless campaigner for disability equality.
 
Shani says that she is “delighted to officially become an ambassador for Scope – an organisation that has been so close to my heart for many, many years. 

“It was actually getting involved in Scope’s campaigns and programmes which really ignited and nurtured my disability activism, and where I felt my experiences as a South Asian woman who experiences disability were seen, heard and valued. I really look forward to continuing to support Scope’s amazing work.”
