"All young people should be able to join in".

Fourteen-year-old Seth has Duchenne muscular dystrophy and lives in South Wales with his parents and two brothers.

As a member of the Welsh Youth Parliament, Seth wants to help create a fairer and more equal society for children.

It’s really important that children have a voice. I just want all children to be treated the same. I want every child to have the same opportunities.

As a full-time wheelchair user, Seth knows how it feels to be treated differently.

He was recently invited to a friend’s birthday party at a new trampoline park. Knowing how accessibility can sometimes be an issue, Seth’s mum called the venue to check if it was wheelchair accessible. It wasn’t.

I wouldn’t have been able to jump on the trampolines anyway

But I thought it would’ve been fun to just be there with my friends. It was really annoying because the venue was a new build.

Experiences like this are why Seth is so passionate about accessibility. In his view,

Accessibility should be the number one priority when new buildings and places like playgrounds are being designed. There should be a law in place to make places accessible.

It’s Seth’s dream to create a fairer, more accessible world, so it’s no wonder he enjoys letting his imagination run free using Lego.

When I build Lego worlds, I just design them how I want the real world to be. I can make anything accessible with Lego. I can create a world where life is fair and equal, and everyone can join in.
